Kelvin Mikhail Smallwood-Jones born March 8, 1988 in Washington, D.C. to Gina Maria Smallwood and Kelvin Robert Jones. He was baptized a Roman Catholic on June 19, 1988 and in 2006 received his Gohanzon to practice Buddhism.
From day one Kelvin was a special spirit unlike any other child. He was an exceptional learner at an early age, and by the age of one he had mastered flash cards and was actually reading by the age of three. Kelvin’s schooling began at the Little Workers of the Sacred Heart followed by the Bridges Academy in Washington, D.C. He then went on to be educated in the Montgomery County Public Schools, graduating with honors from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School (BCC) in 2006. In the summer of 2004, Kelvin was one of thirty-two high school sophomores from around the world to participate in a six-week program by Telluride Association and Cornell University to study “The Emancipation of Slavery in the United States and in Brazil” at the University of Michigan. Kelvin exceeded all academic expectations, and even mastered the game of football eventually becoming Team Captain in his senior year at BCC. In 2006 he was crowned “MR. BCC”, an honor bestowed to few African American students. He was also a member of the International Baccalaureate Program. Upon graduating from BCC, he continued his education on a full academic scholarship at Morehouse College. He maintained a 3.9 GPA and remained on the Dean’s list while matriculating at Morehouse. He was such a proactive spirit, he had already arranged and acquired an internship this summer with The Institute for Responsible Citizenship where twenty-four of the most promising black male college sophomores in the country are given a chance to intern and take classes at Georgetown university.
Despite his rigorous academic schedule he found time to give of himself UNSELFISHLY to all that called upon him. From leadership, counseling, tutoring, and mentoring less fortunate children at the Academic Empowerment Learning Center in Washington, DC, the Coca Cola Camp in Chattanooga, TN and the “100 Black Men” in Atlanta, GA to sharing many gifts with his peers. Kelvin profoundly inspired and touched the lives of many.

Kelvin was a modern day “Renaissance Man”. His experience made him wise beyond his years. An avid reader, writer, photographer, chess player, musician, actor, athlete, weight lifter, scuba diver…this list could go on and on…but above all he was a young man in his prime that lived life to the fullest. He loved WHOLEHEARTEDLY and is a beacon of light.

Kelvin Mikhail Smallwood-Jones was gentle in strength, loving in character, and dauntless in courage. A gentleman of un-parallel charm and style for his age and time. Kelvin, a man of steel and velvet, hard as a rock, yet soft as a morning dew. A young man with an old soul, in old worn work boots, who left behind big footprints, in the sands of time.

Suddenly, on February 23, 2008, a cloud of tragedy and sadness swept across the land and yesterday’s promise of tomorrow faded with the sunset. The gentle breeze of an exceptionally memorable sunny, crystal clear day was overcome by a sunset with rays of orange, yellow and purple and the chill of a mid-winter night. A white coyote appeared on Monday, the sun eclipsed the moon on Wednesday, creating an amber cloud, which illuminated the sky at midnight, and our beloved enlightened one transformed.

Democratic Convention? My picks assured
Take what Ron Paul figured, then figure more
Cause they forgot to account, what I did with the blog
Pick a time, lets pick apart this war
Pick a weekend for leakin' secret reports
I figure George never hit a lick before
So he won't know the feeling when McCain get across
Listen to one of my speeches, feel the force
I'm a boss,

Ice cold, stump got no flaws
donations don't drop, I'm on the top floor
Speech rose-y, think O.J.,
I get away with murder when i orate
John Edwards got less votes than Hilary
that means his ass dropped out, dig me?
